We are celebrating by going furniture shopping, eating Mexican food & watching fireworks on TV. Not exactly what our forefathers imagined, but a celebration none-the-less.
Any day that includes furniture shopping and eating Mexican food is a good day! Add in watching fireworks on TV, and I'd say that's just about perfect...especially if there's a margarita in there somewhere!
Good Wimbledon morning, all! We spent the 4th watching the Palm Springs fireworks at our friends Matt and Jacks' place. The display was spectacular!!! USA! USA!
Katie: Hope you'll have internet access during your vacation!
You and Sal have got to come up to the Santa Ynez Valley one day and let me take you wine-tasting. I'll be your designated driver. Last night spent in Solvang watching amazing fireworks over the mission, while sipping a fabulous Grenache.
Santa Ynez has wonderful wine...go there lots. Heading out to Paso Robles this week for some wine tasting. Great wine there too. In fact, I think the central coast has better wine than much of the Napa Valley. Can't wait!
MORE FIREWORKS THAN LAST YEAR IN OUR AREA. I ALWAY FEEL BAD FOR THE WILDLIFE. I GUESS AS LONG AS WE'RE HAVING FUN. RIGHT? I'M ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT FEEL THAT THE LOCAL TOWNS AND CITIES PUT ON SHOWS AFTER DARK AND THAT'S OK WITH ME BUT TO UPSET THE PEOPLE THAT ARE DYING OR JUST SICK,DOGS CATS AND ALL OUTDOOR ANIMALS I FEEL IS WRONG. THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S HAPPENING. I OFTEN WONDER WHERE THEY RUN TOO IN THEIR PANIC.I LOVE THE 4TH, PICNICS AND FIREWORKS DONE IN THE RIGHT WAY. THIS MORNING THE BEACHES WERE LEFT IN DISARRAY. THE PICTURES THEY SHOWED ON THE NEWS WAS UNBELIEVABLE FIREWORK JUNK ALL OVER THE PLACE, PLUS, BEER BOTTLES, CLOTHES, ETC EVERYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF. NO REPECT FOR ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES. I BELIEVE IN HAVING A FUN TIME BUT FOR HEAVENS SAKES CLEAN UP YOUR JUNK WHOEVER YOU ARE. THIS LAND IS MY LAND NOT YOUR LAND. WE MUST TAKE CARE OF IT AND HAVE A GOOD TIME IN IT.A LOCAL MAN HAD HIS THRUMB BLOWN OFF YESTERDAY. LAST YEAR SOME JERK SHOT A GUN OFF IN THE AIR AND WHEN IT FELL ROM THE SKY IT HIT A TEENAGER IN THE HEAD. HE'LL NEVER BE THE SAME. ANOTHER LOCAL MAN LAST NIGHT THE SAME THING HAPPEN. THE BULLET HIT THE GUY IN THE FACE. ANOTHER NEIGHBOR IN ANOTHER HOUSE WE LIVED IN THE HOUSE BURNED DOWN FROM BOTTLE ROCKETS. ALSO, MY NEPHEWS FRIEND FROM SCHOOL HAD HIS HAND BLOWN OFF. SO MAYBE YOU CAN SEE WHERE I'M COMING FROM. I SAY LEAVE THE FIREWORKS TO THE BIG GUYS. JUST HAVE FUN BUT THINK BEFORE YOU SHOOT THAT FIREWORK OFF.
I KNOW LONG STORY BUT I DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO.
GRANNY...FLA, GOT HIT PRETTY HARD, NEWS FROM YOU AND THE TV. GLAD YOU, GRAMPS AND JOEY WEREN'T IN HARMS WAY...FEEL FOR THOSE WHO WERE'T SO FORTUNATE. Bear...congrats on F's Wimbledon win. Karen...How's my favorite canuck? no need gettin your lips chapped...sayin how much you love USA...we love ya anyway. ;) ;)
It's back to work for me tomorrow. I've had the past week off and of course I didn't get anything done that I had planned. But, I did read a book and went for walks. That's a lot more relaxing than painting and fixing the toilet - LOL!!
Ross, let us know how we can listen to your new show.
Bear...yay!! you can uncross whatever now, seeing your man won...raise a glass for me in your celebration, which I'm sure you'll have...that is, if your not staying dry...LOL
Katie...staying cool or atleast tryin to??? It' heat like this I wish oh wish I had a pool... :))
Garv, staying in and staying cool! Did take out the convertible this afternoon and even though it was 90F out, it wasn't bad as long as you were moving. LOL No pool here. I wouldn't want the maintenance! I'm SO lazy sometimes!
Cee, sounds like you did all the right things during your week off!! Much better for the mind to read and walk than paint. Hee hee xox
Whabby, happy birthday tomorrow! How are you going to celebrate?
Katie - I think it's an internet show, not Sirius. No details though so I'm not sure if it will be free or fee-based. We shall see...
Hope it cools down for you soon. It's warming up here but nothing out of the ordinary. Had relatives for dinner today. People came at 4, we sat outside eating and drinking and it was lovely - cooled off beautifully. And a few people even swam!!
HI GARV, THINK OF YOU OFTEN. MORE OFTEN THAN OFTEN.LOL. HOPE THE HEAT GOES AWAY AND YOU GUYS GET A BREAK. I FEEL SO BAD FOR THE HOMELESS AND THE OLD FOLKS. THAT HEAT IS A KILLER. IT'S REAL HOT HERE.THANKING GOD FOR THE AIR COND..I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT.
CEE, I JUST KNOW YOU HAD A WONDERFUL VACATION.YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO AWAY TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. I WAS ONE OF THOSE LUCKY ONES TO HAVE SWIMMING POOLS IN MANY OF MY HOMES. NO BIG DEAL TAKING CARE OF THEM. I'M AN OUTDOORS TYPE OF PERSON AND LOVED DOING THE YARD AND POOL WORK. I ALWAY MADE IT FUN. NOTHING LIKE IT. THOSE FUN DAYS ARE GONE BUT I HAVE THE MEMORIES. RIGHT NOW I'M SITTING HERE WATCHING FOUR DIFFERANT KIND OF BIRDS SITTING ON MY FENCE WAITING THEIR TURN TO GET INTO THE BIRDBATH. MY DAUGHTER PUT THE BIRDBATH RIGHT NEAR MY SCREENED PORCH DOOR. A PERFECT VIEW. THE SIMPLE THINGS MAKE ME HAPPY.
ROSS, DO YOU STILL READ ALL THE COMMENTS? WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF WE CAN GET YOU IN THE EAST. THERE'S NOTHING ON YOUR CALENAR
Thanks, Katie and Karen, and thanks TG for your birthday wishes on FB! What an amazing group of people I've managed to meet and become friends with through the Rossblog!
